In the process of developing their line of Carson Special Forces G10 M16 models, it became apparent to Columbia River Knife & Tool that there was a demand for these models from coalition forces serving in desert environments. This model has Desert Tan blade and scales. The M16-13DSFG Slim Profile G10 features a 3.50 in. dual grind Tanto blade and is ideal when weight and bulk must be kept to a minimum. It weighs only 4.0 ounces. Just like its black tactical counterpart, this knife shares a unique design offering a combination of Carson SF series features requested by military procurement specialists. It has a combined Razor-Sharp and patented (1) Veff Serrated edge. The open build allows two Carson Flippers to be incorporated, resulting in a true hilt - up to now rare in folding knives. Blade and scales are non-reflective Desert Tan. Premium 8Cr14 stainless steel blades receive titanium nitride coating for maximum corrosion resistance. Kit's trademark dual checkered thumb studs are standard. One-hand opening and closing is quick and smooth. The open InterFrame build uses Desert Tan scales of G10, and stainless steel liners with friction grooves. G10 is often preferred for its aggressive gripping texture, lightweight and the insulating properties which make it cooler in heat and warmer in cold than metal. The M16-13DSFG features automated liner safety. Automated liner safety is the locking liner safety innovation taken to the next level. The automated liner safety sets a pin between the locking liner and the frame. This pin acts as an additional layer of safety, so the locking liner is less likely to disengage during use.
